Time to Make the Donuts - Er, Plant the Beans

Remember that commercial?  The poor guy getting up before the sun, muttering to himself "It's time to make the donuts" as he staggers off to the bakery.

That commercial was spot-on when it comes to being an entrepreneur.  It doesn't matter what you do for your living, there's always an "it's time to make the donuts" in your life.

I'm tired.  But I can't stop now!  It's time to plant the melons, pumpkins, spaghetti squash, okra, corn, beans and field peas.  Pretty much the rest of the garden.  Yikes!  The weather has not cooperated with us (I've complained on Facebook a LOT).  The ground is still wet but it's supposed to be sunny and warm today, sunny and hot tomorrow - in fact, sunny and hot for the next week.

Key words: "supposed to be".  The weathermen around here are batting around .100.  I haven't heard - is it a La Nina/El Nino year??  We've had a springtime more common to the Pacific Northwest than here!  Or, as Jeff calls it, the "Pathetic Northwet".  He comes up with all kinds of weird word perversions, LOL.

Anyway, wet ground can't be tilled.  If the ground isn't tilled, the seed can't be planted.  If the seed isn't planted...well, you get it.  I'm praying we can till tomorrow.

Then we'll be putting in:

Looks yummy, doesn't it?  Fresh, organic (nc) produce?  If you live in West Tennessee, why don't you bookmark the farm's website? It tells you when we'll be selling what, both at our permanent stand here at Sweetgum Farm, and at the farmer's markets...

Ye Gods.  Add in the ten plants each of ten varieties of tomatoes and I hope I've got room for everything!
